Q: What is dialysis?
Dialysis is a life saving process that artificially replaces the functions of the kidney. Haemodialysis involves circulating blood from the body through an artificial kidney using a haemodialysis machine.
Q: How many types of treatment options?
There are two types of treatment available that is Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis.
Q: What is Kidney Failure?
Kidney failure is defined as a state when both kidneys do not function sufficiently which results in the accumulation of waste products and toxic materials. When toxic wastes build-up in the blood, they may cause permanent and irreversible damage to our body cells, tissues and organs.
Q: How often do I need to be on haemodialysis?
Haemodialysis is usually performed for 4 hours three times a week.
Q: How much is haemodialysis treatment?
Each treatment for patient who undergoes haemodialysis at private clinic cost
between RM150 to RM220 per session.
Q: How long can one live with kidney failure?
One can live as long as others without kidney failure provided that he/she has no other confounding ailments such as severe cardiovascular disease, undergoes dialysis treatment and follow the recommended diet and medications.
Q: Can a person survive with one kidney?
Yes. But individual with kidneys functioning below 20% capacity is advised to see a
consultant nephrologist for further management.
Q: Are kidney diseases curable?
Early detection and treatment can cure some of the kidney diseases or can prevent the
progression of kidney failure. When kidney disease progresses, it can eventually lead to end stage renal failure [ESRF], which requires dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Q: Is prior notification required before seeking treatment at Caring Dialysis Centre ?
A minimum of 2 days advanced notice is required via email or fax. The patient's hospital or previous haemodialysis report (including virology & serology status reports) is required for treatment arrangement purposes.
Q: Any dialysis treatment required if I travel?
Yes. For your convenience, you can also choose to receive treatment at any of our branch by notifying the staff in charge for the necessary arrangement. (This is subjected to availability). See under BRANCHES for the nearest CDC to you.
